Sharon Salzberg–A Wise Wellspring of Happiness

Along with her compatriots, Joseph Goldstein and Jack Kornfield, Sharon Salzberg was instrumental in planting the fertile seed of Vipassana Meditation into the U.S. starting in the mid-1970′s and in fostering the deep roots that it has subsequently developed through the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA.

Perhaps more than any other Western teacher of Insight Meditation,
she has specialized in promoting the practice of Lovingkindness meditation, or “metta,” that was taught by the Buddha 25 centuries ago.

In her most recent book, “Real Happiness: The Power of Meditation,” she offers wise guidance in “sustainable and durable” happiness from within oneself, instead of making it contingent upon the outward conditions of one’s life.

Since this is, indeed, a VERY “wise way to happiness,” I strongly
recommend it, along with this great review.
