The Empathic Civilization–How to Increase our Happiness through Relationships
Posted by George Shears | Filed under Evolutionary Spirituality
In his ground-breaking book, “The Empathic Civilization: The Race to Global Consciousness in a World in Crisis,” Jeremy Rifkin offers some strong, scientifically-based hope for a much brighter future for humanity. More specifically, it’s based on the recent discovery of “mirror neurons” in the brains of humans and apes.
These neurons are powerful mediators of empathy–the emotion that bonds us in groups of all sizes, from the family, to the clan, to the tribe, to the nation state and–potentially to all humans on earth. This bonding is arguably the single most important single sourceof happiness in our lives.
In elucidating this great good news, Mr. Rifkin has created one of the most captivating video presentations I’ve seen. I strongly encourage you to watch it.
